Projects I can do that involve flight?

Ok, so my school has this thing called the MYP PP (a Personal Project) and I want to do mine on flight. It takes the entire year ( or at least they expect you to work on it the entire year) and should be unique. I'm looking for ideas other than modding an rc vehicle, or building a model airplane, but something that would be genuinely fun and in a decent budget. Remember, it has to do with flying. take up hang gliding or build an ultralight airplane. You'll have a blast.
